Description
Two types of cottontail rabbits live in Massachusetts: the Eastern Cottontail and the New England Cottontail. Cottontails like to live in brushy areas. They survive well in the suburbs and get all they need for food, water, and shelter there. Cottontails are most active at dawn and dusk and forage for food into the early nighttime hours. The New England cottontail looks much like the Eastern cottontail. However, most New England cottontails have a small black spot on the forehead, whereas about half of all Eastern cottontails have a white spot in the same place. Taken in Needham, Massachusetts
