Description
The golden barrel cactus, golden ball or mother-in-law's cushion, is a well known species of a globe shaped type cacti, and is endemic to east-central Mexico. This photo was taken in the Huntington Botanical Gardens, San Marino, California. Encompassing about 120 acres, the botanical gardens feature 16 stunning themed gardens. The Huntington Desert Garden is one of the largest and oldest assemblages of cacti and other succulents in the world. The desert garden features more than 2,000 species of succulents and desert plants in sixty landscaped beds. Many plants are labeled with their name and country of origin. The Desert Garden agave, yucca and cacti collections are among the Huntington’s most significant research collections.
