Description
The hoopoe is an exotic looking bird that is the size of a mistle thrush. It has a pinkish-brown body, striking black and white wings, a long black downcurved bill, and a long pinkish-brown crest which it raises when excited. Some facts: Hoopoes range throughout Africa, Europe and Asia. The hoopoe is the national bird of Israel. The hoopoe is named after its call. The hoopoe’s beak is its most important tool. The hoopoe’s flight resembles that of a butterfly. Baby hoopoes are far from helpless. Wise, beautiful, and scrappy—the Hoopoe can't help but command respect. Captured in Israel.
