Cannery Row formed in the 1920s as fishermen took advantage of the rich marine life of Monterey Bay. Once it was famous for sardine canning industry. In the 1930s it was known as the 'Sardine Capital of the World.' Rows of canneries used to line the rocky shores. After World War II sardine fishing industry collapsed and the area fell in ruins. The mural gives a glimpse of immigrants way of life in the past in Monterey, California.
