Description
Small parakeet with a long pointed tail, prominent white eyerings, and a short pale bill. The body is mostly light green in color. It has a trailing yellow edge on its folded wings and is also seen when the bird is in flight. Usually seen in noisy groups in savanna woodlands, often venturing into urban areas. The yellow-chevroned parakeet is native to tropical South America. Caged birds have been released in some areas and the birds have established self-sustaining populations in Florida, and California. This bird seems to be doing better in its North American feral population than its closely related cousin, the white-winged parakeet. Captured in South California.
