Description
The Yucatán Peninsula is a northeastern projection of Central America, lying between the Gulf of Mexico to the west and north and the Caribbean Sea to the east. The Yucatan Peninsula is home to an astounding 546 bird species in 74 different families. The Yucatan Jay, as its name indicates, is common and conspicuous in woodland and forest edge of the Yucatan Peninsula, where there are no similar species. They are gregarious birds. Usually found in groups of 5-25 birds, often chattering noisily. Male and female have a similar appearance. The adult jay has black plumage and bill with cyan blue wings and tail and yellow legs. This photo was taken in Yucatan, Mexico.
