Description
Beacon Hill, one of the most famous historic areas in the United States, is a rich residential area that has preserved much of its original architecture of the federal, Greek revival and Victorian era. In the midst of all this is Acorn Street, a tiny one-block-long street with a rather steep slope that runs horizontally between W. Cedar and Willow Street. In fact, this is one of the last places where real cobblestones are still used as paving material. Real cobblestones are rounded, but irregularly shaped stones, taken from the ground and used exactly as they were formed naturally. Acorn Street is one of the few streets with original cobs. Gas lights are still in place. This small historic street has a certain charming appeal, where you can feel for a moment that you entered the time machine and imagine what Boston was like 200 years ago. This is the most photographed street in Boston.
